The first 5 QRcode plates arrived today and they look amazing. Crafted with stainless steel and a black laser engraving, they should be resisting all kinds of weather for years! For now some are already reserved and hopefully can be put up soon. I’m just still waiting for feedback from the appropriate archaeological authorities and ministries, but I hope they will like the idea as much as I do.
Now I’m just searching for the right screws or nails that for example don’t harm trees, which means it most likely will be aluminium or stainless steel nails. Also I have read some research and the urban myth, that a tree dies if you put nails, no matter what metal, in them is not true. The tree quite fastly capsules the nail and that’s it basically.
The plates BTW are fully self financed and paid from my own money. Although I have a GoFundMe active now, there hasn’t been too much money donated. 20 Euros by now, which I am already extremely grateful for, but hope it will become more, when the popularity grows, so I can do much more for archaeological sites.
I’ll keep you updated.
